Educational Activities Abound at Rock Springs

Rock Springs provides a fun way to discover our natural and historical world in a relaxed setting. Hands-on, engaging activities offer an enjoyable learning experience for youth of all ages, and participants get up close and personal with nature. These adventure experiences are designed to last approximately one hour. Recommended grade levels are listed, call for more information.

Rock Springs offers a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities for registered groups. Scheduled activities feature qualified instructors who cover both safety and technique. In addition, a selection of sports equipment is available for independent activities. Registered guests may take self-guided tours and nature walks on the trails throughout the grounds. Please ask for a map during registration for specific directions to our various trails.

During your visit be sure to stop by our spring filled trout pond and feed the fish! The spring water stays a cool 54 degrees Fahrenheit, so trout are available for viewing and feeding year-round.Rock Springs has many natural, outdoor nature trails. While you’re here, take a relaxing quiet stroll through natural prairies, wildflowers and woods. Walking paths include the Dorothy Griffin Akin Wildflower Walk, Riley-Wallace Forest Trail, Sunflower Walking Trail and the handicap-accessible Texaco Nature Trail. Memorial trees throughout Rock Springs are labeled by donor and specimen. These trees create a living memorial to friends of Rock Springs and provide beautiful foliage year-round.
